My First Three Months at Peaches

Reflections from our Marketing and Communications Manager – Joelle Morgan, who joined the charity earlier this year.

Hello, I’m Joelle. I joined Peaches in January 2026 as the Marketing and Communications Manager. If you’ve seen a social media post, newsletter or website update in the last three months, I was probably behind it!

It’s been busy and productive time finding my feet and getting to know the Peaches team – staff, trustees and volunteers – who have all been so welcoming. I’ve been blown away by the passion and dedication across the charity. Not only is everyone genuinely lovely, there’s also so much expertise. From hearing Peaches President, Dr Emma Davidson, speak at our AGM about the landscape of womb cancer research and how Peaches was founded, to learning about the incredible support offered by our Clinical Nurse Specialists, Cath and Anne – there’s been a lot to take in.

I haven’t worked in the cancer field before, so I really was starting from scratch… like many people when they first come across womb cancer. I began with the Peaches Support Videos, a brilliant playlist that explains what womb cancer is, what the treatments are and what to expect. I listened to a talk on womb cancer genomics and Lynch Syndrome, which I didn’t expect to be laughing along to, but Dr Neil Ryan made it so engaging and easy to understand. I’ll never look at IKEA flat-pack furniture in quite the same way again…

So, what have I been up to? Quite a lot!

  • Summarising key reports, including the ECAP report and National Cancer Plan, which will shape the future of womb cancer diagnosis and care

  • Sharing information about our coffee mornings and support groups across the website, social media and newsletter

  • Working with our Operations Executive, Julia, to launch the brand new Peaches shop (including a fun, sun-filled garden photoshoot of our carefully chosen items – yes, every donation goes to Peaches!)

  • Joining in on social media and celebrating the incredible ways people are fundraising for Peaches – including a wonderful shout-out from Alex Kingston after her fans raised over £2,000.

  • Attending the Cancer52 Big Conversation and the Manchester Cancer Research Centre Showcase, including a tour of The Christie’s Paterson Building where cutting-edge research is happening. I even gave a mini presentation on how Peaches supports research into womb cancer…

The real highlight, though, has been getting to know the Peaches community… people living with and beyond womb cancer. I popped into our private Facebook group to say hello, and it’s now grown to over 250 members. It’s such a supportive space for anyone looking to connect with people who just get it

I’ve had the privilege of working with Mev to share her story of being diagnosed with stage 4 endometrial cancer before the age of 40 – an incredibly powerful and inspiring message. I’ve also attended in-person drop-ins at Manchester Central Library, meeting people with lived experience and working alongside Julia and Cath (Team Peaches).

And we now have something really exciting coming up… our very first in-person wellbeing day in Manchester on 4 July! It’s a chance to come together, connect and feel supported. Tickets are available now, and we’ll be sharing more details soon. If travel is a barrier, please do get in touch – we want as many people as possible to be able to join us.

It’s been a busy few months – but in the best way. I feel so lucky to be part of Team Peaches and to play a part in the work we do to raise awareness, support those affected, and promote research into womb cancer.

And the next few months? I’m already planning for June’s Womb Cancer Awareness Month!

Make sure you keep an eye on the Peaches website and follow along to stay in touch.
