What can I do?

You may not have heard of it before, but womb cancer is the most common of the gynaecological cancers.  With nearly 9000 cases every year in the UK, womb cancer gains the least attention and publicity compared with other gynaecological cancers.

You can help change that!

Your donations, fundraising and support will go towards funding much needed research into prevention and early diagnosis of womb cancer, as well as raising awareness and providing information to those affected and their families.

We are the only charity in the UK advocating for womb cancer across all three fronts; research, awareness and providing information. Our research is closely linked with the University of Manchester and we have experience caring for those with womb cancer. Your support will enable us to continue in our mission to champion womb cancer.

Organise your own fundraiser
Needing a little inspiration for fundraising events? Whether this is your first time fundraising or you are a experienced fundraiser, let us help you get started.

  • Bake sale
  • Quiz night
  • Tea parties and coffee mornings
  • Charity entertainment night (e.g. comedy, singles, race nights)
  • Clothes swap events
  • Film nights
  • Charity sports match

Here are some of our tips to help you get your event started:

  • Set up a sponsorship page

Setting up a sponsorship page is a good place to get started. An online page makes it easy for friends and family to support you and donate. Here you can personalise your page including who you are and why you are raising money. Include the details of the event, such as where it is taking place and when, and how people can support you. Make sure you don’t forget to include pictures on your page! You can set a fundraising goal to allow people to see the target you are aiming for, and of course you can always increase this if needed! Make sure you encourage people to click the Gift Aid box, if your friends and family are UK taxpayers, we can claim an additional 25p for every £1 raised, and it doesn’t cost them anything! Click the link here to see our guidance on setting up a donation page and linking it to our charity.

  • Promote

Now you have your sponsorship page you need to get out there and promote it! Think about your target audience and how best to let them know about your event. Spread the word on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Make sure you include us as well (insert social media links)- we love to hear what you are up to! Send out e-mails about your event and why you are raising money, including a link to your sponsorship page. You can also send out a link to your sponsorship page over WhatsApp. Remember to communicate regularly with everyone and keep them updated about why you are raising money and how much closer you are to your goal!

Some employers will offer matched donations for charities up to a certain amount. Check with your employer and you could double your donations!

  • After the Event

Thank everyone for their support and let them know how the event went and what the final amount was that your raised. Collect any outstanding donations. If you need information on alternate methods to pay in your donations please contact us at [email protected]

Support us through donations

Your generous donations and gifts can help support us in our mission to fund research and raise awareness into womb cancer.

There are several ways you can donate:

Donations
No matter how big or small, donations are vital to help fund the work of Peaches Womb Cancer Trust

  • One-off donation – Any size gift is very much appreciated and can make a huge difference. Please click the link here to our online donation page.
  • Set up a monthly direct debit- A regular direct debit gives the charity a regular income which really helps us be able to plan and fund future projects and campaigns. It is an easy way to donate a small amount each month that over time will make a substantial contribution to help us fulfil our purpose. If you would like to set up a direct debit, please e-mail us at [email protected]
Legacy
Make a lasting legacy by leaving a gift to Peaches Womb Cancer Trust in your will. A gift in your will is a wonderful way to leave your mark on a cause you feel passionately about.

Every year, around 9000 new diagnoses of womb cancer will be made and a fifth of those will lose their lives, yet many people have not heard of womb cancer or know the symptoms. Your generous and thoughtful gift can and will play a crucial role in changing that by funding ground breaking research, raising awareness and supporting those affected by womb cancer.

Leaving a legacy is a very special and personal decision. If you feel you would like to tell us about your gift or have any questions about how to leave a gift in your will then please e-mail us at [email protected].

FAQs

Should I have a will?

Having a will is a personal choice, but is a good idea. Making a will can give you peace of mind, knowing that your savings and possessions will be passed on to the people and causes you care about the most.  Without a will, the state will divide your savings and possessions up as it sees fit. Having a will makes it easier for you family and friends after you die and avoids any conflict. Writing a will does not have to be expensive or complicated.

Can I leave a donation to Peaches Womb Cancer Trust in my will?

It is your decision how you wish your assets to be divided, and so you are free to leave a gift to charity if you want to. A gift as special as this, no matter how small, can really make a huge difference to us. If you wish to leave a gift to Peaches Womb Cancer Trust in your will, there are three ways to do this:

  1. Residuary legacy- This is where a gift or percentage of what is left is shared with Peaches Womb Cancer Trust after all other gifts and costs have been made. Your family and friends will be provided for first.
  2. Pecuniary legacy- This is a fixed sum of money
  3. Specific legacy- This is a gift of a particular item, for example jewellery

Do I need a Solicitor to make or amend my will?

It is advisable to use a solicitor when writing or amending your will. This ensures that the will is written correctly and will be valid. If you already have a will, you can amend this using a codial, which is a document that alters or adds to your will.  In order for this to be valid, it needs to be drawn up in the same way as a will and therefore a solicitor is advisable. To find a solicitor, you may find the following links useful:

England and Wales- www.lawsociety.org.uk

Scotland- www.lawscot.org.uk

Northern Ireland- www.lawsoc-ni.org

Can I specify how my gift is used?

If you wish to specify how you want your gift to be used, then you should express this clearly in your will. We are duty bound to use the funds you have gifted for this purpose only. If we are unable to use the funds for this specified purpose, for example if that purpose has already been fulfilled, then we must notify the Charity Commission to get permission to use the funds for another purpose. This will be as close as possible to how you originally wanted your donation to be used.

A memory- After losing a loved one, we understand that during this painful time you may find it difficult to know how best to honour their memory and celebrate their life. Many people find that fundraising is an inspiring and worthwhile way of creating a lasting memory. Giving in memory helps us support and continue to improve the lives of those with womb cancer, and many families find great comfort in honouring their loved on in such a way. We are continually grateful for these gifts and to be there with you as you celebrate the life and memory of one so special to you

Funeral collection – A funeral is an opportunity for friends and family to celebrate the life of a loved one, and often, people are choosing to ask for donations rather than flowers, in order to create a lasting meaningful memory. If you wish to ask for donations on behalf of Peaches Womb Cancer Trust, we can help support you by providing envelopes for donations (including a Gift Aid form, allowing us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 at no extra cost to your family and friends), pin badges (recommended £1 donation) and collection boxes. We can also provide information so that your family and friends can read about how their donation will help others. For more information or to request these materials, please e-mail- [email protected]

Special Occasions
What better way to celebrate a marriage, birthday or anniversary, than by remembering the people that got you here, and by helping people living with cancer find their best way through. Here are some ways you can involve our charity in your celebration. You could set up a fundraising page to ask guests to send donations to Peaches Womb Cancer Trust rather than material presents and our pin badges make an excellent alternative to wedding favours. Allowing us to be a part of your special day or celebration means we can continue funding ground breaking womb cancer research and to continue to make an impact on the lives of those affected by womb cancer.
